How Well Has Your Newco OCS Held Up?

For the folks that have owned a Newco OCS-8 or OCS-12, how well has yours' held up? How long have you owned it and have you had any reliability issues?

What should my first post have been about? What would you rather it had been about?

I must have missed all the posts in my search that discussed the reliability of the Newco...

I have an OCS-12.  Other then a sensor coming loose once, it has run daily for almost 3 years now.

Relax; some members can be a bit testy until they've had their coffee (bad coffee at that). There are no off limit subjects, just out of bounds members. >:D

Thanks - It was just tongue-in-cheek.

Thanks for the replies.

Best.

...and money for airfare to Texas so you can show me in 30 minutes how to produce excellent espresso.

You can relax South; had there been no smiley in my first post, you would have been free to view it as a complaint.  Zillions of people looking for a coffee brewer spot the group buy we had 4(?) years ago, and post looking for it.  That's all I was saying.

But since you ask what your first post should have been about, how about a first post being an introduction, a brief coffee history, etc?  I wasn't going to go there, but you asked...   You may not have had any way of knowing the tightness of the GCBC family; it's a close-knit community, and we're used to people settling in and becoming a part of the family; hope you will too.

I purchased an OCS-12 about 3.5 years ago, it has been in almost daily use since then.  I liked it so much that I bought two more as gifts.  One went to my mom.  She had a problem with the carafe not keeping the coffee hot for very long.  Newco said it was a bad vacuum seal and replaced the carafe, at no charge.  The other one went to my nephew.  He has used it every day for about 2.5 years with no issues.  It has been a great product.  I would purchase another one if needed.  As always, ymmv.

Stumbled across this old thread when looking for a replacement for my OS-8.

Spring and seal at the bottom of the filter basket valve went out after 4 years.

Called Newco for a replacement and they didn't have one.  They are not sure if they ever will.

Still seems to be functional as a giant pourover (gotta remember not to take out the carafe out until everything is done brewing), but will probably eventually settle on a new Cuisinart DCC-1200.

Would like a Techni but $300 is just a little too steep for me.
