Paging Mr. Tex! Bunn ES-1A parts
« on: March 31, 2010, 09:55:55 PM »
There's an ES-1A on ebay starting out cheap, but it needs some parts, quote: "Missing parts – including pressurstat, flow meter, pump head."

If I buy this, what'r the chances I'll be able to find these?

Parts are readily available at http://www.cafeparts.com & http://www.espressoparts.com. As long as the brain box is OK there's nothing in a Bunn that's not standard (cheap) espresso machine. I would ask the seller for more detailed pics of the inside - I see the cover for the 3-way valve exhaust is also missing and the portafilter is definitely not a stock Faema/Futurmat item.

When techies start stripping a machine for parts you've got to be very careful about buying what's left over.

Sounds like good advice. I'm going to proceed with caution.

Pressurestat ~$90
Flowmeter head ~ $90
Pump Head ~ $130 - $200

After pricing the parts, I'll have to think really hard about this.

That's wise.

I asked the seller for pics of the internals and all they said was what you see is what you get. I've had dealings with these guys before and I'd have to rate them as uncooperative at best.

Much appreciated.  I'm going to ask them if the the brains still work and for pics with the cover off. If they aren't forthcoming, then I'm gonna pass.

But still, IF you can source the parts used & in good condition this would be a helluva buy!  :-\

This part:

83 lbs shipping weight + pallet

Available for pick up at our warehouse in suburban Philadelphia

We offer to box, shrink wrap and strap to a small pallet for $25 to ship via freight company (100+ lbs with pallet)

Made it a definite no go for me.

I tried to tell 'em it only will weigh ~75# when boxed for UPS. Like I said uncooperative.

It looks like I'm going to pass on this. I got some freight quotes online and the cheapest was over $200. Anybody live in Philly?

We regularly pack and ship these via UPS ground for ~$80. The machine is also missing the pop-off valve and ??
