Wonder if it's possible to do a 24hr solo race with that.

Totally stupid idea. Makes you wonder if they've even considered how much the setup would weigh? ::)

I could see this being extremely successful in Seattle or Portland.  The combination of bicycling, a Dutch cargo bike and espresso would be irresistible.

PS: here is a link to the cargo trike:  http://www.workcycles.com/workbike/bicycles/professional-worktrikes/dutch-industrial-cargo-trike.html

I note that it can carry 400 kilos.

My neighbor has a trike like that with a ice cream cooler on it... I keep thinking about it .... his price is a little high still...

I think it would be tough to sell good espresso from a rig that small but it would be a good platform for a propane water heater... pour overs and maybe a press pot for those early morning commuters in too big of a hurry for a really good cup...  if I could get a little roaster on there it would complete the automatic picture by the little train station in my town...

I like that wood bed....  nice touch

Well Tex, some people are more fit than others and could run that thing around town all day.  I see a few folks who bike around here that would probably not even break a sweat on it.
I do agree though a couple hundred pound espresso machine, and all the other stuff you'd need would make it heavy.

Somehow I do not see this being a big hit in san francisco, ... Id love to see one of those coming UP one of those hills out there.  heh
Screw the Triathelon, this is a new olympic event.  the the TriCAPPelon,   you gotta run your coffee rig up two big hills, pull a perfect shot off an espresso machine, a double pour over, and a yama vac in the shortest amount of time.   and NO you can NOT have any yourself for the fuel boost, we'd have to check them for steroids and caffeine prior to giving out any medals  ;D

From the website:

The bikes now use vintage-style lever-operated espresso machines from Astoria and are very low on energy use - mobile coffee carts often use gas for the heating of their water.

So is there a gas-heated lever espresso machine?

Lots of commercial machines have a gas heater option - not too sure about the grinders though? Unless you've got access to electricity at every stop, you'd have to lug around a generator or a huge bank of batteries.

I can just see this thing coming up the Denny Regrade in Seattle: Better yet, trying to come down the Regrade without losing control! :o

Tex,
You could use a hand grinder, or invent one that worked off the bike's peddles? :)

Probably both, now that I think about it.
