Odd Noise from my Behmor
« on: May 26, 2013, 12:34:23 PM »
When I started to preheat my Behmor yesterday I immediately heard a mechanical noise that sounded like grinding gears or a car that won't turn over. It was a slow sound that went up and down in pitch. Neither the drum nor chaff tray were installed and the little metal piece that turns the drum seemed to be turning ok. When I tapped on the side of the unit the sound stopped for a second or so, then came back. Not long after it stopped and I proceeded.

Any ideas on what this was and what I can do to fix or prevent it? I don't want anything inside to break. One person on SM's suggested it could be one of the internal fans.

Thank you.

Pull the right hand ( looking at it ) off before turning it on next time all the noise makers are in there. Easy to take off

Contact Behmor Support, they'll help you out.  It might be a gearbox.

I wrote to them yesterday and hope to hear from them tomorrow or after the holiday on Tuesday. I'll keep you posted.

I roasted again today and everyting was normal.

It becomes much easier to troubleshoot if you drop it off the roof of a tall building.  Et's Brokedid.

Then there would probably be many things wrong with it.

Not if I personally accompanied it down from the roof. Too bad I live in a basement apartment.
