Probat Wont Light :-(
« on: July 23, 2012, 07:51:58 PM »
So I installed my Probat L-12 today (2006 - LP). Motors are spinning like they should, but I can't get any flame. I'm stumped........

I'll ask the simple first.

Is the gas on?  Do you see a glow plug or pilot light turning on and then off?

If not the glow plug is normally powered by a small transformer.  Does it have power (both in and out, mine is 24v)?  or if by pilot light which is controlled by the gas control valve. With a pilot light there should be a thermocouple on the gas train?  If so it could be bad... Depending on the age you might have to light the pilot light (like an old hot water heater or furnace).

If all else fails call probat.  The could probably point you in the right direction.

I'll call Probat 1st thing in the morning. I just wanted to post here because there is a lot of experience/know-how around the club.

The gas is on. There is a pilot light that is lit by a manual click/spark. The gas-flow to the burner and pilot run through a gas control valve.

I'd suspect either a thermocouple or the gas control valve..... hope it's the thermocouple, I think the gas control valve is expensive.  Probats may also have air flow sensors that don't allow the burner on if there is no sensed airflow.  You might check the wiring on those if it has them.

Northwestmark has a probat, you could PM him too.

GOT IT!!!!! I jumped out the negative air sensor, and it fired right up. The airflow is fine, so I suspect that the tube for the sensor is clogged.

Cleaning up my shop and about to drop my first roast!!!!!
